  • Projector Comparison:TSX,S2K,SC430,RX330 LS430,TL,E55,FX etc

Here's a comparison of some of the popular projectors in the market right now. I included both single and bi-xenon. In this post, I only compared lowbeam output. In the future, I will add more pics to include new projectors, after-market projector, custom shield, and other hybrids.

Car parked 35ft from wall in well lighted background. 3 shots taken for each projector, at 50ft, 35ft, and 10ft. I'm using Nikon D60 with ISO800, Speed 1/4" and Aperture 8.0 with a tripod. All projectors uses Philips 85122+ 35W D2S bulb and Matsushita Gen 3 35W ballast. Exceptions will be noted, as in the case of pnp projectors using non-oem bulbs.

Please do not take these pictures as-is. Do your own testing to verify the output. With additional spacing, centering, and tilting, you can get better output, sharpness, color, intensity, straightness.

Not all projectors and lenses are the same, even from the same maker. Some projectors have more light bleeding above the cutoff, making the wall appears brighter. But all pics are taken with the same camera settings. Also, these pics are taken in a very well lighted area. The cutoff would have been better in a darker environment.

Lastly, if you want to compare these pics to one another, I recommend downloading them into separate tabs and then click each tab to jump from pics to pics. You will can see the difference between them better than just scrolling up and down. Finally, do NOT reply to this first post. You don't want to include all the pics again. Enjoy.

very nice pics, you can clearly see how much the tsx sucks. almost as bad as is250 lol. the rest of them are pretty close but s2k, TL, sc430, and modded rx are the best. the fx mountain looks terrible.

Awesome compilation. Glad you decided to combine them all. This should be stickyed.

Is it me or it looks like the sc430 is brighter than the s2k?

          no
but the rx330 has better width/intensity than the sc

*I will be unavailable for projector modding and retrofits until further notice*

tsx clear lens is over rated somehow since they are not clear as tsx replicas.

you rather get rx330 with tsx replicas with custom curved shields. yields better results such as greater width for about same price.

Not same price if you are up north

How can you tell if you have TSX clear replica or tsx clear oem?

tsx replicas have a flutted section on the side.

Still trying to figure out why the s2k is so expensive? Theres a couple up there that are almost equal to it.

expensive cuz they are wide. like JVX said its different for complete darkness and angle and such.

if you actually took two pairs of s2k and compared it to lets say a pair of tsx.

its a big difference once you have two setups retro'd in. also take into account about your headlight lens how they are. headlight lens are a big factor taking away the color and sharpness. even if your lens are nice and clear, its how your lens are positioned, straight up and down or curved or slanted.

look at jvx's s2k on his crx or somewhat he had and it was DAMN WIDE!

I can't wait till the weather is dry. I want to add sc430-f/rx330-b/e30 hybrid to the mix, as well as s2k with custom shield.

What makes the s2k special is the intensity right below the cutoff from side to side. When you're on the road, you can see the cutoff bounce along the bumpers and side wall. It's a cool effect and unique looking. It's a preference people like.

you really have to see these projectors in person and in action to appreciate how they work. jvx took some great pics but theres nothing like watching an s2k driving down a dark road and being able to see the entire cutoffs showing crisply on all the scenery. and how intense the beam looks on the ground. TL is also amazing to see on the ground, but it lacks sharpness at a distance and kinda blends in from far away.

JVX, can you keep these hosted for forever? If so, I'd like to move this to the University section. Otherwise we can host these on our own server if need be. Thanks for taking the shots!

I'm using photobucket to host all my pics. It's pretty reliable. As long as that site is up, we're ok.
