  • MH1 7.0 vs S2K -- Other Projector Beam Shots/Comparisons

UPDATE 2/15/2016: THANKS TO THE SUPPORT OF HIDP MEMBERS AND TRS, THIS THREAD SPARKED INTO WHAT IS NOW The Hyyuge Projector Full Beam Gallery. That thread goes into further detail with better resolution pics using a DSLR camera.

About time we get some full beam shots of the new MH1 7.0 and compare it to other OEM and aftermarket projectors. Big thanks to member Turbobnl for donating his MH1 7.0. All shots are taken with XB 35W ballasts, 3Five 6000k H1 in the 7.0, and OSRAM CBI in D2S projectors and 45ft from the wall. 50W pics have been added to certain projectors and is specified in the picture heading. These are all the projectors I have. If anyone would like to lend a projector for beam shots, feel free to PM me. Enjoy and stay tuned for each update with different projectors!
    UPDATE: The MH1 7.0 and MD2S 3.0 now have 50W comparisons.

The list of projector comparisons includes:

    S2K - completed
    3G TL - completed
RX350 Non-AFS Dedicated Low Stock Lens - Completed
    Morimoto MH1 6.0 - Completed

So the question remains - Is the MH! 7.0 as wide as the infamous S2K? It was yet to be seen, until now......... I also brought along another heavy hitter, the 3G TL(newer style with high reflectance bowl).

Mods to S2K include: an AP2 projector with an AP1 clear lens and custom shield
Mods to the 3G TL include: ZKW clear lens, modded step shield to J slope, wide high beam mod

The S2K was so wide I had to step back 35 feet from where I took the other comparison pics. I shall leave you waiting no more...

Here's one a few people have been waiting for and thanks to Nuvolari lending me his MD2S 3.0, I bring you the following:

    MD2S 3.0 TOP/MH1 7.0 BOTTOM

    MD2S 3.0 TOP/MH1 7.0 BOTTOM EXPOSURE DROPPED

    MH1 7.0 TOP/MD2S 3.0 BOTTOM

    MH1 7.0 TOP/MD2S 3.0 BOTTOM EXPOSURE DROPPED

    MD2S 3.0 HIGH BEAM

MD2S 3.0 HIGH BEAM EXPOSURE DROPPED

It looks like the 7.0 high beam is a little better, but the MD2S has that intense hot spot for distance. This brought upon a discussion between me and Nuvolari about the MH1 7.0 vs MD2S 3.0. The 7.0 crushes the MD2S in width, but the MD2S has that huge intense hot spot which will give you more distance. But the MD2S also has a whole lot of foreground which, in essence, reduces your distance vision. So, is it a trade off? Or does the intensity of the hot spot negate the foreground? Here are the pics of the foregrounds, discuss:

    FX-R 3.0 BEAM 50W

    FX-R 3.0 50W BEAM EXPOSURE DROPPED

    FX-R 3.0 50W HIGH BEAM

    FX-R 3.0 50W HIGH BEAM EXPOSURE DROPPED

    MH1 7.0 35W TOP/ FX-R 3.0 50W BOTTOM

    MH1 7.0 35WTOP/ FX-R 3.0 50W BOTTOM EXPOSURE DROPPED

    MH1 6.0 BEAM 50W

    MH1 6.0 50W BEAM EXPOSURE DROPPED

    MH1 6.0 50W HIGH BEAM

    MH1 6.0 50W HIGH BEAM EXPOSURE DROPPED

    MH1 7.0 35W TOP/ MH1 6.0 50W BOTTOM

    MH1 7.0 35W TOP/ MH1 6.0 50W BOTTOM EXPOSURE DROPPED

So the forever popular debate - Which is better, MD2S 3.0 or FX-R 3.0?

    MD2S 3.0 W/OSRAM CBI @35W TOP - FX-R 3.0 W/MORI 6500K @50W BOTTOM

    MD2S 3.0 50W OSRAM CBI

    MD2S 3.0 W/OSRAM CBI @35W TOP - FX-R 3.0 W/MORI 6500K @50W BOTTOM EXPOSURE DROPPED

    MD2S 3.0 50W OSRAM CBI EXPOSURE DROPPED

MD2S definitely has that intense hotspot, but FX-R seems to have a bigger hotspot with more light concentrated along the cutoff. FX-R definitely takes 1st on the width, but MD2S might be able to see just a tad further due to that centered intensity.

Here's Morimoto's top 3 sellers stacked up against each other. These pics are just for width comparisons since the top projector will most definitely be aiding the lower projector's output intensity.

    MH1 7.0 TOP/MD2S 3.0 MIDDLE/FX-R 3.0 @ 50W BOTTOM

Thanks for posting comparison pics. +rep

The second picture (low only RX350 non AFS) looked almost disappointing to me, until I see the 3rd picture. For some reason, it appears that the FG is too strong. I assume the camera settings changed between pics #2 & 3 in post #1?

If I can get my F5s off my Nissan without removing everything I will definitely get a pic.

HK45 how much differ is high beam than mh1 6.0? I mean rather than distance vision like taller/wider high beam?

The SC430 projector you posted in Imagio's thread blows the 7.0 out the water. I know it has been modded, but damn it looks good.

Which has the better beam pattern? Looks to me like 7.0 has better center intensity and bigger hot spot while rx350 has more useable width?

I second that the 7.0 has better center intensity, that hotspot is hot lol. 350s seem to have better width.

I was pretty impressed by the 7.0 as well.

So is the mini worth considering against an oem projector now?
