  • Taillights on with DRL on Nissan

Hello, I am trying to get the taillights (and license plate lights) to be always on. Well they should come on if the front DRL are on. Has anyone a good idea how to do it simple. the car is a 2016 Nissan Qashqai also known as a Nissan Rogue Sport.

If the side markers and taillights aren't lighting with the DRL, that is normal. They shouldn't. If you want to drive with them on, turn your headlight knob to the "Parking" /"P" setting, but then that might turn off the DRL or at least change how bright they are, depends on the car. On my 2001 Firebird, the DRL are dimmer with the "parking" lights on.

yes. if I turn to parking lights all lights come on but the DRL dim to the parking light functions. However I would love for all exterior lights to be on with the front DRL. Stock functions for the parking lights and the AUTO function should still work like normal.
I was thinking of a bridge from the DRL fuse to the parking lights BUT since the front DRL dims to become the parking light it will not be that easy.

Volvo cars come stock with tail lights on with DRL. In some other cars it is called the "skandinavien setup".

You might need to do some voltage probing. The idea is to power the taillights when parking lights are on drl (full voltage) and not when they are dimmed (less Voltage). Since stock wiring takes care of the taillights when set to parking anyway it's not a problem. Assuming you can find a relay that switches at 12v and above but not at that reduced voltage then you can use that to relay power to the taillights.
