  • BMW E82/E90 wiring assistance request.

I'm in the process of installing Morimoto H7 RELAY harness and I'm looking for a substitute 12v source as the battery is in the boot.

There is a jump start post under the hood and I was wondering if that's a good location to tap from. If not, what is suggested?

Can you access the fuse box?
Most cars have several unused fuse locations.
I would find a diagram of your fuse box and test the “spare” fuse locations until you find one that will work.

As I said, I need to access it from under the hood. The harness I'm using is already fused. Plus, I'd rather not run wires through the bulkhead if I don't need to.

Ah. I was thinking you had a fuse box inside your engine compartment.
Just out of curiosity why do you need the relay?

I think using those jump leads should be fine. I personally never had a car with them, but I think in theory all they do is just extend raw wiring from the battery terminal up to the front. So connecting power up at the front would be identical to connecting it to the battery directly. Just use a fuse.

For the H7 ballasts? Sorry if that wasn't clear.

              Ok makes sense.

I agree with gold. Jump leads should work fine.
