  • XB55 Warm up

I'm going to try and explain this best I can but when I fire them up they warm up but seem flickery as they come up to full brightness. When I had XB35's, I recall them warming up smoothly rather than in chunks of intensity as they came to life. The passenger side now does not always fire. I've swapped ballasts, bulbs, and igniters and still had the same side continuously not firing. I'm guessing this is a problem with the harness or a bad ground; however, it looks OK to me.

I'm trying to figure out if it's the moto control harness causing me flickering issues on my Chevy Cruze or bad bulbs. I'm using 4800k XB50's.

However, I think I have two problems. One is a bad bulb because it flickers either side it goes to, and the second is a problem with the harness.

Usually issues like this are caused by old, worn out bulbs.

So youíre saying I most likely have a defective bulb/bulbs.

Shame they are brand new . Guess Iíll be submitting a return to TRS. Maybe just go with OEM. I ran xb35s before and they were quite good.

You might. Gotta diagnose it first.

Swapping hardware left to right doesn't make a difference as to firing problems. It is consistently the passenger side. The ballast on that side makes a lot of noise warming up. In talking with TRS, they think it is a defective motocontroller unit and will be sending a new one.

Yeah if moving the ballast AND bulb doesn't help, it's wiring. Either a bad motocontrol (which is common) or a bad ground or connection.
