  • Putting a 9006 into a 9006XS spot

    Afternoon folks,

Just bought some headlight housings and I'm eager to install them. However, I have a 2008 Dodge Charger and because nothing can be simple, it seems it uses different parts than any other car ever manufactured.

I want the Philips CrystalVision Ultra White bulbs, but they only sell them in 9006. No 9006XS. As far as I know the only difference is that a 9006XS bulb has the base STRAIGHT rather than angled, so I would assume it would fit... it might take some jamming but I'd be willing to do whatever it takes... is there any way to work around it if it doesn't work?

Also is there a better alternative for that white/Xenon look for halogen bulbs? Or is Philips CrystalVision the best way to go?

    Thanks a bunch.

I'd try just a regular 9006 bulb to see if it fits, and if it does, then get the expensive one you want. If not, then you're limited to only the 9006XS option

The “xenon look” halogen bulbs will not give you as much useable light output than a standard bulb. I would look into a 9012 HIR bulb that will outperform a normal 9006 bulb. The 9012 does have to be modified to fit a regular 9006 socket and could also probably be modified to fit your application
