  • Will TRS ever bring back EvoX-R 1.0?

The chrome on my 1.0s burned (again) so I purchased a set of the fancy new EvoX-R 2.0s. I got them installed and it just feels kind of... lackluster. The foreground is improved now that I have good bowls, but the width is disappointing. My 1.0s could light up jersey barriers three lanes over. Now I'm barely lighting up ones right next to me. Not helping is that the 2.0 is shorter than the 1.0 so it just looks stupid with a ridiculous gap in my housing (housing was a bit dirty). I'm sure that the lens being set so far back isn't helping with the width.

My 1.0s could achieve side illumination like this that the 2.0 just can't match. Seriously, I loved how the car behind me was barely lighting up the wall while mine was overpowering everything. My car could be in the garage behind my house and yet easily light up the house across the street.

So I guess I was happier with the 1.0 than the 2.0. Is there any hope of TRS bringing them back, or am I stuck with the shorter 2.0?

The EvoX-R 2.0 are all hotspot. Never liked the notion. But the current trend is crazy hotspot and no width haha. Unfortunately, I can't answer your question.

Although thinking further, do the lamps (66240cbi) dim as they age like halogens? I noticed on both sets of projectors, the drivers side currently seems dimmer than passenger. They're almost 3 years old now and my autolamps are on anytime the car is running, day or night. I've probably put almost 70,000 miles on my car in the past three years, so the lamps will likely have over 1,300 hours

It's weird because oem designs seem to be all width, no throw. I need some width for deerspotting.

I think balance is key, but all hotspot is kinda useless.

Yes HID bulbs absolutely dim over time! At 2000 hours they should be replaced. With the price drop on CBIs, why not try another pair?

It was hard enough to convince myself to spend the $108 on the projectors, much less now spending $100-175 on gambling new lamps sadly. I feel guilty spending money on myself. I wish I had thought about new lamps on black friday. Plus the fun internal debate of 'do I stay with CBI, or bump it up to CBH?'. The CBI just doesn't have that same 'whiteness' of modern Audis and Lexuses.

Nothing gets around the fact that my car's pushing 8 years old and I really want to buy a newer Lincoln but I also want to pay my house off before I turn 30.

If I knew for a fact that new lamps and possibly rubbing a microfibre towel on the inside of the housing would help, it'd be easier to pull the trigger on a new set of lamps.

The CBH, lumen wise, is not an upgrade over the CBI. CBI is still the Osram king. The difference is that it's no whiter, it's BLUER. If you like blueish tint, go for it. I don't much like it myself. The modern Audi and Lexus vehicles are running LED, and the blue is a downside IMO.

I do feel you on the feeling guilty part though, that's for sure. But 8 years old is nothing. I mean, I'm still spending thousands on my 17 year old Toyota

Don't touch chrome coatings with anything! Not a good idea.

Why you are loosing time with EVOX projector. I bought RX350 projectors from Alibaba in VERY good condition, for 90 $ + 30 $ DHL Shipping. And you problem is solved.

Ended up ordering the cbh despite being backordered. Forgot one credit card has a negative balance so may as well use it. What I meant with the towel was, take the projector out and wipe the inside of the clear housing lens -- it's permasealed so I can't easily bake the housing. While I'm in there, my projectors sit on little mounting posts, probably to give clearance for the screw heads joining the two projector halves. I may try to cut those posts off to bring the projector further forward. It'd gain me ¼" or so.

I'm not terribly handy so I need an e55 design

Yeah you don't want to touch the inside of the lens either It's very delicate and uncoated. Is it dirty?

Bringing the projector forward won't do anything for output.

I guess I'm just trying to rule out other possibilities, such as grime on the inside of the lens. Moving the projector forward would hopefully make it look better in the housing. I hate it being sunk so far back.

I just want things to finally look good again but don't know where to throw my money.
