Setup:
2012 Highlander
G5-R Bi-Xenon D2S projectors
Morimoto 55W ballasts
OSRAM CBB 7000K Cool Blue Boost
Purchase/Install: July 2019
Taken Out: April 2020 (roughly 10 months)
CBB is definitely brighter than the CBH noticeably including the high beam which had a noticeable spot-like distance vision that I never saw with the CBH. It's awesome for backroads here in NH even though I did set up my headlight to be dual high beam when it's on (high beam is LED).
Right around March, I started to notice my lights weren't as bright if not seemed a tinge yellowish. I thought it was my eyes getting used to it but seeing reflections on other vehicles day & night with the fog lights being white LEDs with a hint of blue/purple, it started to bother me a lot.
With the 50W ballast also, both CBB & CHB base had a slightly melted plastic on the bottom of the base including the D2S socket.
The projector seems fine but seeing the condition of the bulbs, I decided to try the Morimoto 50W bulbs to match the ballast.
Like so many posts, I'd say it's fine for the first six months as far as the brightness goes. It's not a cheap way to run 50W ballast for the sake of having a brighter light. Was it worth it? Yes. Would I run it again? Maybe but with 35W ballast likely unless these CBB bulbs drop to $99/pair
I would like to mod near the base to see if I can add a heatsink or a way to cool it which shouldn't be too hard if I were to go this route again to prevent overheating. I've had the ballast and CBH then CBB combo for over two years now so it's not a bad deal.
