How well is the lens protected against the UV coming from the sun light? I'm retrofitting a pair into some subaru impreza headlights and the projector lens sits quite a bit outside the shroud and I'm worried about the lens getting yellowed over time.
I'm planning to get some UV protection film on the outside of the headlights but still...
Your outer lens is probably polycarbonate, which is uv opaque. PC is not uv resistant (observed as yellowing and crazing), but is uv opaque. That's why you can just sand off the damaged exterior surface of headlight lenses and have clear lenses again.

I just went and looked in Oracal's catalog and chose a high uv resistant film.
New headlights - untouched UV protection + protection film and I hope I'll get some good years out of them.
The guy doing the film installed cursed a lot because the film was a little thicker than what he used and harder to stretch.
In the mean time the right side projector developed a green hue. Don't know why... it was just a small difference when I first started using them - only noticed when shined on white cars/buses and now it is noticeable just by looking at them from the front of the car.
driver side is cool white slight bluish and passenger side cool white slight green tint.
      Output is still good.

Do you have any photos of the projector unit?

How do you tell if the Mazda 3 lights are adaptive or not?

Not anymore. Just google "stanley biled mazda"
that should give out what you are looking for.
          What are you interested in?
for adaptive, the projector can pivot left and right in order to throw light in corners

It is just you mentioned the projectors you used were from non-adaptive headlights and I wondered if they were different and the ones to use rather than adaptive.

Looking for bi-led projectors to go in E46 M3 headlights, being in UK and right hand drive kind of limits the supply/options.

I think I get what you need.
First of all I'm not really sure how mazda does it but I think it is just the same like everyone else. The projector swings left and right based on steering angle value and vehicle speed thus "bending" light into the corners.
              Very simple really.
If you are asking if this can be used...within a retrofit...on a car that does not have adaptive headlights.. well that would be beyond my computing power.

I guess with enough money you can do just about anything. Adaptive, cornering, high beam assist, etc...
From my knowledge the e46 headlight is easy to mod - lots of space, those stanleys are quite fat hogs.
If you can find some try and get the newer projectors with duble leds. Simple math - double the lumens within the projectors optics and maybe you get something better on the road. Search here, there is an older thread with pictures

This just an example, you can find more info I think.
Look at the pictures with the 2 projectors side by side. On the left there are 2 connectors for 2 led chips

Thanks for link, I will have a read. I don't want to use the adaptive part, I am just trying to see if there is a way to tell adaptive headlight from non-adaptive by looking at them, for example eBay listings of used lights.

Did anyone test these projectors against the Morimoto M-led 2.0?
Anyone around here had any experience with the both? even just some naked eye impressions of the two lights compared
