  • 2013 ZRE182R Toyota Corolla/Auris Mini D2S 5.0

Just a few photos of a simple retrofit to my wife's little Corolla. Sold as the Auris in most parts of the world outside of Australia I believe. These things are everywhere over here but their OEM halogen headlights leave a lot to be desired.

For this retrofit I've kept it simple and opted to use Morimoto D2S 5.0 projectors. I also needed to replace the two clips which hold the headlight assemblies into the car as they self destructed upon removal of the lights. Toyota part number 53271-44010.

The housings are perma-sealed shut but some gentle heat with a heat gun and a pair of screwdrivers had them open without too much drama. Gouging all the perma-seal out to replace with butyl rubber took more effort.

A little bit of measuring later and I had a mounting bracket drawn up which would accept any G5 mounting pattern projector. Three 8 mm ball mounts attach it into the OEM housing.

Mainly just posting these photos so that others have something to reference if they're planning to try something similar as I struggled to find any information on these lights. Hopefully this helps someone out!

That is a very nice bracket. When I worked ok this car I was happy to reuse the original plastic brackets for my Koito bi led retrofit. would you share the cad design?

I was amused to see your post when I went to put these photos up after having searched exhaustively for anyone else having done this and come up empty handed just a couple of months previously! I supply kits for people to DIY retrofits so not up for sharing the design, sorry. I appreciate the kind words though!

Nothing to be sorry about. If I would have seen your pictures before I made my retrofit I probably would have thought that I definitely need the brackets. Do I am happy that it worked out for me with as many original parts as possible.

But please let others know how to contact you if they need a bracket.
