I agree with most of the posts, I've seen "totalled" cars at auctions here that had bad ECU's and a dinged door, or minor things like that but where the parts are too much to buy OEM to bother fixing. My friend got a salvaged TL thats only a few years old that needed to be reflashed, it was in a small accident with minor damage, frame was not bent, and somehow the ECU shorted from rain we assume and it was considered a wreck. A few thousand for the car and another thousand or two for damages and he had himself a nearly new TL haha.
I would just hate to have the burden of trying to sell a vehicle with that title because most people are too uneducated to realize a salvaged vehicle is not always a bad thing if it was taken care of after.
i was just talking to someone on my eclipse forum who was looking at a salvage titled car.. i am not against getting one, but it depends on me and my mechanic going over it thoroughly before buying.
2001 Eclipse led conversion, high power led reverse light conversion (dead), led reverse light-revision 2 done!none of us feels adequate for the jobs set before us, but maybe we should fill in until the perfect person comes along.
variable wattage morimoto ballasts anyone?
In Ohio a salvage title and rebuilt title are two seperate things. You can't drive a salvage title vehicle without it getting inspected and then it will become a rebuilt title. You must have valid receipts for the parts used to fix the car also. It is a big pain so i would only by a rebuilt title vehicle only if i knew the history and not worried about reselling it.
I wouldn't buy a salvage unless I got a great deal, planned on driving it till the wheels fell off, or only bought it as a project car.

in 2005 my 2002 civic got rear ended and smashed to the tune of $8k in damages. car was worth more at the time so they fixed it, but its considered rebuilt title now. body shop work really has gotten better and most people could never tell it was in an accident. the only signs are the inside trunk floor where you can see some bumpy areas but nothing major. even the silver paint is a pretty close match, altho i can tell its not as good as the factory finish. the main thing is the front was not hit at all, so no mechanical type problems. been driving it since then and its about 10yrs old now no major issues. i dont plan to sell the car either so no worries about that. when the trans goes out (bad year for them), i will junk it and get something else. im expecting at least another 5 yrs out of it.
I almost bought a truck with a "missing" title. It was not stolen(cops checked it out, harassing him), just the guy lost the title in a move before he updated the title-proper.
